New years resolutions are for the most part ridiculous. Having said that, here is mine: Have more days that I can call “good.”

Gonna increase my reading.

Was able to relate to Melancholia at a disturbingly high level.

1Q84 is one of those novels that I don’t necessarily want to end so I’m limiting myself to a few chapters a day.

Experienced a brief existential crisis on the drive home from my sister’s last night. Resulted in the shortsighted deactivation of my Facebook, the transmission of a few bizarre messages to Ashley in Japan, the canceling of some weekend plans, and a desperate search for an open liquor store in Lawrence (to no avail).

Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea - Barbara Demick

Really enjoyed this book.

Enjoying physical fitness and all the reading I’ve been doing. A few days in NYC will be a much needed respite from the daily grind.

I’m feeling optimistic today.

Revisited the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Had a great work experience.

Moved to Lawrence.

Started seeing the product of my increased physical activity.

Started reading again. A lot. I’m trying to embrace my Kindle.

The last month and a half has been a financial wreck but I’m starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Said goodbye to too many friends.

Visiting Dallas next week for some much needed respite.

Started training at CASA.

Updated my Resume.

Decreased my alcohol intake almost 90% (see “Said goodbye to too many friends”)
